About Our Services

If you or a loved one finds themselves in a Mental Health Crisis, but you do not need to go to the Emergency Room, please consider one of MHASEI Crisis Services. You do not need to be an established patient of MHASEI to utilize our Crisis Services. Crisis Services are available to you at no charge, depending on your county of residence.

23 Hour Crisis Observation

MHASEI offers a 23 hours crisis observation unit for patients that find themselves in a mental health crisis and do not need an Emergency Room. The 23 Hour Crisis Observation unit is open for anyone 24 hours a day and no prescreening is required. Anyone can simply walk into the unit and be assessed quickly by a Registered Nurse that has previous mental health experience. The nurse will conduct an immediate physical assessment and mental health assessment and talk with the patient about their crisis. The nurse can also help with medication reconciliation and answer your questions about medication. When anyone comes to the 23 Hour Crisis Observation unit they can expect a warm and welcoming place to work through their crisis. During the stay they will meet with a Mental Health Professional to discuss your crisis and work through a plan of next steps that makes sense for your situation. Patients can stay at this level of care for up to 23 hours and depending on county of residence (see below), this service is offered at no charge to the patient.

During the 5 day stay, the patient will work through the mental health crisis, follow up with medication prescribers as applicable and develop a Wellness Recovery Action Plan.
